Description

Tapestry woven in wool and silk, Brussels, ca. 1690-1720 Tapestry woven in wool and silk. On the left is a balustrade decorated with orange trees in pots. Before it stands a goddess, probably Ceres, with a cornucopia with a sheaf of wheat in a cornucopia while she holds a torch in her right hand. By her are three women, two with baskets of flowers and fruit and the other with a sheaf of wheat. In the background on the right is a large chateau, before which is a fountain and people on a picnic. A landscape with houses is in the distance.
