Description

Man’s coat of cream-coloured worsted, lined with grey-blue woollen broadcloth. It has a 1½-inch (3.7cm) standing collar, curving 2-piece sleeves reaching to between elbow and wrist, and wide skirts below the waist. The centre back seam is open below the hip. A narrow ribbon of medium brown silk binds the ends of the sleeves, and brown silk taffeta faces the left front edge. There are 30 worked buttonholes on the left front and 1 on the left edge of the collar, with 31 corresponding buttons of wood, covered with bleached linen thread.
