Description

Fragment of pink woven silk brocaded with coloured silks. Lilac ground with two intertwined lace trails, one in dark and light blue with an ermine pattern in white, and the other in white with a central sport. The coloured lace is twined around a bunch of brocaded flowers in green, pinks and white, and the white trail has a similar bunch of flowers in white. Brocaded tabby with one white pattern weft and the other colours, including silk cordonnet, brocaded. Width of silk: 18.625 inches, two repeats in the width. Selvage: 0.25 inch wide with three outer cords. Length of repeat is incomplete. The design has a drop reverse pattern. Fragment of woven silk brocaded with coloured silks, France, 1760-1765
