Description

Girl's dress bodice of white Spitalfields silk damask brocade, with a pattern of zig zag floral stems and detached sprays of roses on a diapered background of lozenges with rosettes at their corners. The bodice has leading strings of matching fabric attached at the shoulder back, elbow length sleeves and a back fastening. For image of skirt fabric see 162A-1899. Parts B,C,D are with the department of Furniture, Textiles and Fashion; Part A is on loan to Macclesfield Girl's dress bodice of white Spitalfields silk brocade woven in a floral pattern on a diaper background; with leading strings; made in England, 1750-59
