Description

Woven silk dress fabric, Spitalfields, England, 1775-1780 Woven silk of white satin ground with a flush effect making stripes of opposed meanders, These are enlivened by tiny sprigs woven in orange, tan, cream, green and black from pattern wefts. The silk has 1/8 inch selvedges woven with green and white stripes.
