Description

Dress fabric of brocaded silk. Salmon pink lustring ground brocaded with strange fruit and flowers in white and three shades of blue, and white and three shades of green. There are two loom widths sewn together, formerly part of a skirt. The brocaded wefts are bound in 3/1 twill by a proportion of the ground warp threads (every 4th). Découpure of 5, 70 threads to the cm (approx.), and width of 40 cms. Cords in the design are approx. 420. Dress fabric of brocaded silk, Netherlands, 1735-1740
