Description

1757, German; Pedigree of Wilhelm Friedrich, Duke of Brandenburg White silk satin printed in dark grey, displaying the pedigree of Christian Frederick Carl Alexander, Margrave of Brandenburg, and his wife Frederica Carolina of Coburg. The pedigree is depicted as a tree with coats of arms spread along the branches, and flanked by views of Ansbach and Coburg. Over the trunk of the tree are the arms of the Brandenburgs on a mantling supported by two eagles and surmounted by a crown. Printed silk panel German; dated 1757 Designed and executed by J.C. Oertlein of Coburg in 1757. The panel commemorates the accession of Christian Frederick Carl Alexander (born 1736) Margrave of brandenburg who married Frederica Carolina of Coburg (born 1735) in 1754. There are views of Onolzbach (the former name of Ansbach), his capital, and Coburg on either side of the lower coats of arms. [1971]
