Cover of silk tissue, France, 1710-1720 Cover of silk tissue with a satin ground. The design consists of luxuriant fruit, unnatural flowers and scrolls with variously diapered grounds and is entirely carried out in gold filé and frisé, and silver filé and frisé threads. The salmon pink ground is masked except where it defines the edges of the design. Lined with red silk. Around three sides is a border of gold lace. Pattern bound in 3/1 twill by a fine white silk binding warp.
