Description

Curtain (parda) of coarse indigo-dyed cotton fabric embroidered in long stitch with crimson and yellow floss silk and white cotton thread. Design with a central sun emblem surrounded by figures of herdsmen and milkmaids (gopis), birds, beasts, etc. from the Krishna legend. Curtain (parda) of cotton embroidered with floss silk and cotton thread, possibly made in Kangra, Chamba or Punjab, early 19th century
