Description

Ground and part of the design black silk; figures of animals and birds, of brown silk or linen, which in places, has the appearance of having been wound with metal. A similar piece is illustrated and described as above, in Collection d' Anciennes d' Étoffes, réunies et déscrites par Mme. Isabelle Errera, Bruxelles, 1901. p. 43 and 44. No. 75. Called by Blanchet in his Notice sur quelque Tissus antiques etc. plate 28a as Italian 13th century and by Cox in his L'Art de decorer les Tissus, p. 5. p 1. VII. fig. 5. art persan antérieur au XIII siecles.
