Silk embroidered leather, possible southern Sweden, 1800-1830 Embroidered leather gloves were constantly presented as wedding gifts before mid-19th century, both by bride and groom. Wrist length finger gloves for man of soft leather (kid?). Silk embroidery in satin, stem and italian cross stitch on the back of the hand, around thumb and outlining the fingers, mostly floral inspired designs. Colours used pastel green, pink, soft brown or apricot and black. On the back of the proper right glove there might be an initial embroidered, 'D', within a ribbon-like cartouche.
