Furnishing fabric of woven silk, France, ca. 1705 Furnishing fabric of woven silk with a blue satin ground with a bizarre pattern in white silk twill. The vertical repeat is incomplete but two motifs are repeated across the width. They consist of a thistle-like flower leaning diagonally from a swirling leaf. There is a selvedge along the left hand side and evidence of another panel to which this was joined.
