Description

Turban-cloth of red silk with gold-wrapped thread, probably Pakistan, mid 19th century. Turban-cloth('pag') of red silk with woven gold-wrapped thread. 'Lungi' is a term which can be applied to both waistcloths and turbans depending on the locality, but in Punjab refers only to waistcloths, while a turban is call 'pag'. Silk has not traditionally been cultivated in Punjab but imported from other areas such as Bukhara, Khorasan, and Bengal.
