embroidered, 1800s, Austrian Headdress for a woman of silk brocade and silver lace, backed with cloth of silver strips, and a wide edging of pleated silk net. The silk edging is stiffened with wire. The brocade has a pattern of detached sprays of flowers and leaves, in colours, partly in chenille. Other flowers are embroidered in raised silver thread on a ground of white silk, and silver thread and strips. The scalloped silver lace has a pattern of two opposed rows of fan-shaped and diamond devices. The headdress is lined with glazed pink cotton. There is a large bow at the top.
