Compound weave in deep blue silk.  Undulating floral vines and flying birds. Selvedge on both sides of two cords and five narrow stripes.  Stained, many splits, some repaired with running stitches.

Ground: fine cream colored linen.  Design:  rectangle in center with landscape and buildings, worked in fine cross stitch; fragments of border patterns, the alphabet and apparently unrelated letters, worked with pale colored silks in fine cross stitch and tent stitch.  Stained, faded.

Five open horizontal rows with various independent naturalistic motives including, individual flowering plants and leaves, floral groups, vines, trees and a cornucopia. The last motif on the right of the top row is a tree stump with a medallion having the word "Freundschaft" drawn in but unembroidered. Inked in the upper right hand corner of the ground is the date "1830" (?). Polychrome floss silk yarn with some metallic yarns on a cream silk ground.   Some tears along creases in ground; stains.  Stitches: French knots, running, satin, split.
