Alternation of four S-curving vines (two bamboo-like; two seaweed-like). Each vine sends out shoots alternately left and right. Textile would have been used as a dress fabric and was probably inspired by a European woven silk.

Blue damask with a large scale symmetrical pattern, the vertical center-line is middle of fabric in light blue; large oval frame in the form of a ribbon from the top of which is suspended a basket of flowers from a ribbon. The ribbon frame is the full width of the fabric, and is repeated one on top of the other.

Bright yellow damask with a pattern of a symmetrical flower and leafy vine motif: central flower framed by flower sprigs with twisting leaves. The ogee pattern is continued by putting the fabrics side by side. Red stripe in either selvedge.

Reproduction fabric inspired by a sixteenth century design in the Cooper Union Museum collection has a pattern of flower-filled urns and pairs of peacocks.
