A pair of abutted spheres showing the eastern and western hemispheres as they appeared between Cook's voyages and the Louisiana Purchase (1769-1803). Title is placed at the center top, the directional star at the center bottom. Each country and its colonies are delineated in a particular color. Soiled; some worn yarns; edges of ground partially frayed.  Stitches: couching, running, stem.

Tapis d'Orient fond bleu vert, bordure fond orangé.

Copperplate print in mauve on natural cotton. Circular and lozenge medallions, containing figures in classical style, superimposed on a lozenge trellis ground enclosing trophies, compositions of birds, fruits, etc. Worn; cotton browned; a number of small holes. Both selveges present. Narrow strip of same fabric sewn along right side.
