Description

Embroidered sampler Linen sampler embroidered with silk and cotton; Swedish; dated 1863. As well as samplers of the school-exercise type worked in much of Europe, the Museum possesses examples showing particular regional characteristics. Some of these were already of historical interest when they were acquired. Others were acquired by the Museum in the 19th century as records of current practice. This sampler is predominantly of cutwork and drawn-thread work. It was made in the southern Swedish province of Skåne in 1863.
