Description

Woven furnishing textile sample with a blue background with a bold pattern of a white leaf merging into a large open flower, above which a group of smaller flowers intertwine their stems. The veins of the flowers and leaves are outlined in sage green. The fabric is woven in silk and wool with a half-drop repeat. The left side has a 1/2" selvedge whilst the other edges are bound with machine stitching. Four brass rings are inset along the top, and a label is stuck on the lower right hand corner, inscribed '81 661 A'. A small patch of similar weave with a green background and sandy brown outlines is tacked onto the back. Furnishing textile sample, Samuel Rowe for A. H. Lee & Sons, England, ca. 1895
